A Guide to Underarm Hair Removal
Underarm hair removal is a personal choice. Some cultures don’t remove body hair at all, others just remove it from some body parts, and others go for the “remove it all” policy. Once you try underarm hair removal you may agree that it brings a sense of comfort, smoothness and freshness.
After that you’ll probably want to do it again once the hair starts to grow back. And this is a big problem: why don’t hairs just stay off for good? We keep spending money to remove them and we’ll be doing it forever. But nowadays there are several options for hair removal, from less to more permanent.

Laser hair removal treatment does not guarantee elimination of the hair, only a reduction in its growth that could perhaps lead to hair growth stopping altogether. It’s an expensive treatment and requires several sessions, however, in the long term it can turn out to be cheaper than the added cost of other hair removal methods: you make a short term larger investment for laser but hair will grow less and less, whereas with temporary methods (shaving, wax, and creams) the hair always grows back soon and then there you are again having to spend more time and money.
If you can’t afford laser treatment for hair removal, try the more traditional methods. Wax will give you results that last for about three weeks. If you’re a wax beginner, don’t try it at home for the first time. Go to your salon and learn the technique first. You’ll feel more relaxed and after a few waxing sessions the hair will be a bit weaker and therefore easier for you to remove it at home using a waxing kit. This will save you some money and allow you more privacy but make sure you follow the kit’s instructions, especially if it’s hot wax.
Buying an electric epilating machine is also a good option. Just like wax, the hair is removed right from the root rather than from the surface of the skin and so the results will also last for about three weeks. The first couple of times it can be a little bit painful, so you may want to ask a friend or a family member to do it for you, while you lay down in a relaxed position with your arm up and supported. After a few times the hair is weaker and you can do it yourself by raising the arm in front of the mirror.
The most popular hair removal methods for underarms are probably razors and depilatory creams, even though their results only last for a few days. Their popularity has to do with being pain free, less time consuming than other methods and also cheaper. If you choose one of these methods, go for the cream. The results last slightly longer than shaving.
